Young women invited to explore science through free program at St. Patrick’s County Park

St. Patrick’s County Park is hosting a free mini-series of science programs for girls in fifth through eighth grades on April 20th. The program will run from 10 am to 2:30 pm and feature a variety of interactive activities and presentations from experts in the field.

The Potawatomi Zoo will be providing animal encounters and staff will be presenting on Indiana wildlife, while teachers from Riley High School will be conducting hands-on science experiments for participants. In addition, Jennifer Tank from the University of Notre Dame, along with members of her research team, will be showcasing the world of aquatic insects and their importance in monitoring the health of our waterways.

Those attending are advised to dress appropriately for the weather and wear hiking shoes as some activities may take place outdoors. Lunch and snacks will also be provided for all attendees. Thanks to the Dr. Elmer R. Graber Youth Fund for Exploring Nature, there is no fee associated with this program, but registration is required by April 17th. To secure your spot, interested individuals can contact 574-654-3155.
