Exploring the Power of Public Health on Kauai: KDHO Hosts National Public Health Week Open House

Stop by the Kaua‘i District Health Office this Friday

Kaua‘i District Health Office (KDHO) is hosting an open house on Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., as part of National Public Health Week. The event will take place on Umi Street, across the elections building, adjacent to the Central Pacific Bank building. This open house presents an opportunity for the public to interact with Hawai‘i State Department of Health staff about programs and actions that community members can implement to tackle public health challenges.

Dr. Janet Berreman, Kaua‘i District Health Officer, stated, “National Public Health Week aims to engage the public in exploring the many programs and services offered by the Department of Health to enhance community well-being. KDHO staff are thrilled to welcome everyone at this event and express their gratitude to our community and partners for their continuous support in building a healthier and prosperous Kaua‘i.”

The attendees at the open house will have access to information about public health career and academic prospects. Additionally, representatives from high schools will be present with a focus on health academies, senior citizen clubs, Mayor Derek S.K. Kawakami, the Kaua‘i County Council, the governor’s liaison, and Kaua‘i’s legislative team. Department of Health professionals who will be present include vector control, administrative services, community health workers, public health nurses, epidemiologists, mental health professionals
