FIDE and Guinness World Records Join Forces to Break Chess History on International Chess Day

Challenging the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS for Most Games Played in a Day!

The International Chess Federation (FIDE) is set to make history on July 20, 2024, with a Guinness World Records Attempt. This event aims to mark FIDE’s centennial and International Chess Day.

Players of all skill levels, from beginners to grandmasters, are invited to join in the celebrations either online or offline, from anywhere in the world. To participate in the attempt, individuals must play at least one 5-minute game on platforms like chess.com or lichess.com between July 20, 2024, 00:00:00 CEST and July 21, 2024, 00:00:00 CEST. Offline events listed on the 100.fide.com/gwr website are also available for those who prefer playing in person.

Organizers can plan their own events for the Guinness World Records Attempt and register them on the attempt’s landing page before July 15, 2024. Results confirming the number of games played must be submitted after the attempt. Registration for tournaments participating in the Guinness World Records Attempt will begin in May.
