FIFA gives higher ranking to Brazil’s bid for 2027 Women’s World Cup

Brazil’s 2027 Women’s World Cup Bid Receives Higher Mark Than Germany, Netherlands, and Belgium in Report

In a FIFA evaluation report released on Tuesday, Brazil’s bid for the 2027 Women’s World Cup was given a higher ranking than the bids submitted by Germany, the Netherlands, and Belgium. This marks a significant development in the race to host the tournament, as it will be the first time that FIFA members have had an open vote to determine the hosts.

The technical evaluation report gave Brazil’s bid an average score of 4.0 out of 5, while the joint European bid received a score of 3.7. Both bids were deemed eligible for consideration as they met or exceeded the minimum hosting requirements during the evaluation process. The United States and Mexico recently withdrew their joint bid, stating that they will now focus on hosting the 2031 tournament. South Africa also dropped its bid last year and will now target hosting the 2031 event instead.

Brazil has previously hosted two men’s World Cup tournaments in 1950 and 2014, but this would be its first time hosting a Women’s World Cup. Germany hosted the Women’s World Cup in 2011, while Australia and New Zealand hosted it in 2023, marking its first time being held in two countries.

The upcoming vote by FIFA Congress will determine which country will host
