Ford is recalling more than 40,000 vehicles due to gas leaks that can potentially cause fires. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has opened an investigation into the recall of 42,652 Ford SUVs over concerns of a fuel leak that poses fire hazards.
The vehicles included in the recall are the 2022 and 2023 models of Ford Bronco Sport and the 2022 model of Ford Escape. The NHTSA’s concerns are related to a possible fuel leak caused by a cracked fuel injector in certain vehicles. In March, Ford issued a recall for models with 1.5-liter engines to address these concerns by providing an engine control software update and installing a drain tube to fix the issue. However, the previous recall did not involve the replacement of the cracked fuel injector.
This situation has prompted safety regulators to open a probe into the recall, as the remedy provided by Ford may not be sufficient to prevent fire hazards. Owners of the affected vehicles are advised to contact Ford for further instructions on how to address this issue.
