French Bakers Achieve New World Record for the Longest Baguette in History

French Boulangeries Set World Record by Making the Longest Baguette

On May 5, 2024, a team of 18 French bakers achieved a remarkable feat by breaking the world record for the longest baguette in history. This achievement was celebrated as a proud moment for France, as they reclaimed the title from Italy. The previous record was set in June 2019 by Croce Rossa Italiana in Como, Italy, with a baguette that measured 132.62 meters. The French bakers created a baguette that measured an impressive 140.53 meters, securing the title.

The event took place during the Suresnes Baguette Show near Paris, where the bakers followed strict guidelines to make the bread using only flour, water, yeast, and salt. The bread had to be at least 5 centimeters thick throughout its length to qualify for the record. The traditional process of making the baguette began in the early morning, and a mobile oven was specially designed for this attempt.

After the baguette was baked, its length was measured and officially announced as a new world record. Part of the bread was cut into smaller pieces and distributed to the public while the rest was given to homeless people.
