Trey Augustine selected to represent Michigan State University in USA Hockey World Championship

The USA Hockey roster for the upcoming World Championship will feature Michigan State University’s men’s hockey team goalie Trey Augustine. Augustine, a Detroit Red Wings prospect, has been added to the roster, replacing Dylan Larkin due to an injury.

Augustine, who is from South Lyon, is a product of the USA Hockey Development Program and played for MSU this season during their first-ever Big Ten Championship and national tournament appearance since 2012. In 35 games, Augustine posted impressive stats that earned him Second Team All-Big Ten and All-Freshman Team honors. He won the Most Outstanding Player in the Big Ten Tournament and was also voted the Most Valuable Player award by his team.

Augustine has already represented his country on an international stage as he spent two seasons with Team USA before playing for MSU. During his time with Team USA, he won a gold medal in the 2024 IIHF World Junior Tournament. Known for his standout performances, Augustine quickly became a fan-favorite during the Spartans’ successful season. With impressive moments like a 34-save shutout at Ohio State and key saves in important games, Augustine has proven himself as a standout player.

This opportunity to represent his country at the World Championship is a significant honor for Augustine, who is excited to showcase his skills on an international stage. The tournament will take place from May 10-26 in Ostrava and Prague, Czechia. Augustine’s journey from college hockey to international competition highlights his talent and potential as a rising star in the sport.
