From Founding to Closure: The Journey of AEE Solar in the Renewable Energy Sector

AEE Solar, a distributor, to shut down operations after 45 years

In 1979, a solar enthusiast named David Katz founded Alternative Energy Engineering in rural Redway, California. The company initially focused on off-grid equipment and later expanded its offerings to serve the residential market in California. In 2014, AEE Solar was acquired by Sunrun along with SnapNrack, further solidifying its presence in the solar energy market.

As the closure date approaches, AEE Solar is currently selling off its remaining inventory at clearance prices. The distributor is advising customers to reach out to their territory sales manager to explore new purchasing options directly from SnapNrack. Despite the upcoming closure, AEE Solar remains committed to providing quality solar products and services to its customers until its final day of operation on May 3, 2024. Last year, the company expanded its operations by opening a new 140,000 square foot distribution center in Visalia, California.
