Kim Petras cancels summer festival performances citing health concerns

Kim Petras has announced that she will have to cancel her previously scheduled festival appearances this summer due to health issues. The 31-year-old singer, who made history as the first openly trans person to win a Grammy Award, broke the news on social media on Wednesday. She expressed her devastation at having to make the difficult decision not to perform at festivals this summer, but assured fans that she will be back better than ever soon.

Although Petras did not specify the nature of her health issues, she was scheduled to perform at several festivals including Primavera Sound in Barcelona, Mighty Hoopla in London, Primavera Porto in Portugal, and Capitol Hill Block Party in Seattle, Washington, according to Billboard. She was also announced as the headliner for LadyLand 2024’s annual New York Pride celebration in Brooklyn on June 28.

During the 2023 Grammys, Petras won the award for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for her song “Unholy,” which she collaborated on with Sam Smith. In her acceptance speech, she thanked the transgender legends who paved the way for her to be where she is today. Petras, a native of Cologne, Germany, has made a significant impact in the music industry and continues to inspire others with her talent and authenticity.
