Cameron Sutton voluntarily surrenders to authorities in response to domestic violence charge

Eleven days ago, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office issued an arrest warrant for former Lions cornerback Cameron Sutton. Sutton, 29, had been wanted on a charge of domestic battery by strangulation following an incident at a house in Lutz, Florida on March 7. On Monday, March 25, 2024, Sutton’s attorney contacted HCSO’s warrant section to inform them that he would turn himself into authorities in Tampa.

However, it was only on March 31, 2024, at 8:24 p.m. that Sutton arrived at the Orient Road Jail to turn himself in. The charge is a third-degree felony with a punishment of up to five years in prison.

Lions team president Rod Wood stated that Sutton had been at the team’s facility in Allen Park, Michigan when news of the warrant was revealed by the Sheriff’s Office last week. Wood stated that the team urged Sutton to surrender and seek legal advice. The Lions released him the following day.
