From Trailblazer to Biopic: Perfect Storm Entertainment Takes on the Life Story of Michèle Mouton

Justin Lin’s Production Company to Create Film Based on Michèle Mouton’s Life

World Rally Vice champion Michèle Mouton has had her life rights acquired by Perfect Storm Entertainment, which plans to develop a biopic based on her story. The project stems from the success of Drum Studio’s documentary, The Queen of Speed, which won the International Emmy for Best Sports Documentary in 2022.

Mouton made a name for herself in the male-dominated world of rally racing in the 1970s and ’80s. Despite facing obstacles, she became a trailblazer in the motorsport world during the Group B era, where she achieved the remarkable feat of winning four FIA World Rally Championship races. Her accomplishments solidified her status as one of the greatest motorsport drivers in history, as she remains the only woman to have won a World Rally Championship race.

The biopic will be produced by Perfect Storm Entertainment, with Justin Lin, Andrew Schneider, and Sal Gatdula serving as producers. Andy Holland and Jessica Sinclair from Drum Studios will also be involved in the production. Mouton and her daughter, Jessie Johnsson-Lüthy, will serve as executive producers on the biopic.

Perfect Storm Entertainment has a diverse slate of projects in development, including an independent film called The Last Days of John Allen Chau starring Charlize Theron and Daniel Craig. They are also working on an Apple series Two For The Money starring Charlize Theron and Daniel Craig. In addition to that they are developing Participant Media’s film Abacus and adapting manga classic One Punch Man for Sony Pictures. For TV they have projects such as Seven Wonders for Amazon Prime and The Islands for Peacock along with Infinite Thread and an untitled Joshua Troke project for Universal Television.
