Fueling the Future: Malaysia’s Embrace of Hydrogen Technology in the Mobility Sector

MOSTI delves into hydrogen technology for transportation sector

The Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry (MOSTI) is putting a strong focus on exploring the potential applications of hydrogen technology, particularly in the mobility sector. With the aim of increasing the adoption of hydrogen technology in Malaysia, MOSTI plans to collaborate with relevant ministries and agencies to create a group of end-users in the country.

Recently, MOSTI organized a demonstration session at the lobby of the Investment, Trade, and Industry Ministry, where Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli, Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Minister Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, and Investment, Trade, and Industry Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz were present. The session aimed to showcase the potential of hydrogen technology in the mobility sector in alignment with Malaysia’s commitment to achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2050 as outlined in the Hydrogen Economy and Technology Roadmap (HETR).

Furthermore, MOSTI also plans to collaborate with the private sector to establish a mobile hydrogen refueling station. This initiative will not only highlight the capabilities and expertise of local talent but also position Malaysia as a leader in the hydrogen economy.
