Slovakia Dominates as Great Britain Women’s Ice Hockey Team Falls 7-1 in World Championship

In the Ice Hockey Women’s World Championship in Latvia, Great Britain suffered a tough loss against Slovakia in Division 1 Group B. The game began with Slovakia quickly taking control, scoring two early goals in Riga. However, Katie Marsden managed to bring hope to GB with a well-placed shot into the bottom corner, ending the opening period with a score of 2-1 in Slovakia’s favor.

Despite this, Slovakia continued to dominate in the middle period, scoring four goals to extend their lead. They managed to add a seventh goal in the final minute of the game, securing a convincing victory. Ema Galisova led the scoring for Slovakia with two goals.

Marsden was recognized as GB’s player of the game for her efforts, while Slovakia’s goaltender, Andrea Risianova, received the award for her exceptional saves in the final period. GB now sits five points behind Slovakia in the standings, with one win, one loss, and one overtime loss in their three matches.

The top team in the group will be promoted to Division 1 Group A. GB will face Slovenia on Friday before taking on hosts Latvia in their final game the following day.
