Hamas Returns to Cairo to Negotiate Ceasefire with Egyptian Mediators

Hamas Plans to Meet in Cairo on Saturday to Discuss Truce in Gaza War

Egyptian mediators are awaiting Hamas’ response to a ceasefire offer that includes a pause in the Israeli offensive and the release of Palestinian detainees in exchange for hostages. The Palestinian Islamist movement is heading to Cairo on Saturday to continue negotiations on this proposal, led by Khalil al-Haya, a member of the Hamas political bureau.

The conflict between Hamas and Israel escalated after an attack by Hamas commandos on southern Israel resulted in the death of many civilians. In retaliation, Israel launched a large-scale offensive in the Gaza Strip, resulting in a significant number of casualties. Despite this, efforts are being made to negotiate a ceasefire and reach an agreement that satisfies both parties.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu gave Hamas until Wednesday to respond to the ceasefire proposal. However, Hamas accuses Netanyahu of obstructing efforts for a truce and fueling doubts about a quick ceasefire agreement. The Palestinian movement criticizes Israel for its planned offensive on Rafah and demands that it stops immediately.

Hamas is going to Cairo with a positive spirit to achieve an agreement that satisfies the demands of their people. The delegation will continue negotiations on the ceasefire offer with mediators from Egypt, Qatar, and the United States who are eagerly waiting for their response.
