Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport Ranked World’s Busiest Airport for 23rd Time in a Row, ACI Reports

Once again, Hartsfield-Jackson airport regains title of world’s busiest airport

The Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) has once again been named the world’s busiest airport, as confirmed by the latest rankings released by the Airport Council International (ACI). This marks the 23rd time that ATL has held this top spot, with the exception of 2020. In 2023, the airport welcomed an impressive 104.7 million passengers, representing a 11.7% increase from the previous year. Despite this figure being 5% lower than the pre-pandemic total in 2019, it is still a remarkable achievement for ATL and its team.

Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens expressed pride in ATL’s accomplishment, emphasizing its significance for the city’s economic prosperity and global connectivity. He highlighted how crucial it is for Atlanta to maintain its standing on a global stage and how vital it is to ensure that its largest airport continues to provide exceptional service and excellence in all areas of operation.

The General Manager of ATL, Balram “B” Bheodari, credited the success to his team’s dedication and enthusiasm towards their work. He emphasized their shared commitment to excellence and service, highlighting how they continue to strive for improvement and innovation at every opportunity. The Transportation Committee Chair Byron Amos also recognized this achievement as a driving force for ongoing improvement and innovation at ATL, pledging to uphold and enhance the overall experience at this airport.

Apart from Hartsfield-Jackson, Dubai International claimed second place this year, moving up from fifth position last year. Tokyo International came in third place followed by London Heathrow and Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport rounded out the top five busiest airports globally. Each of these airports plays a significant role in shaping global trade and commerce, making them essential components of any modern transportation system.
