Hate and Division: Anti-Semitic Infiltration at German Labor Day Protests

Union boss destroys Palestine flags at May 1st demonstrations

On Labor Day in Leipzig, a group of anti-Semites infiltrated peaceful protests and openly called for the destruction of Israel. Despite attempts by the German Federation of Trade Unions (DGB) to keep them separate, they eventually joined the DGB demonstration in the afternoon. The police intervened and were attacked in the process, leading to charges being filed against the group due to banned slogans.

Meanwhile, on May 1st, anti-Semitic chants and slogans were reported in Berlin and Rostock as well. In Stuttgart, the demonstration was disbanded due to attacks on police officers. These incidents highlight the importance of advocating for workers’ rights while also addressing and preventing hate speech and discrimination in public demonstrations.
