Helsinki Stock Exchange Opens With Positive Trading Sessions, but Not All Companies Shine

Helsinki Stock Exchange Opens with SSAB Down

The Helsinki Stock Exchange reopened after Easter and saw a positive trading session, with the general index up by 0.4 percent at 9785.26 points. Among the most traded stocks, mining company Sotkamo Silver had its share rise by 5.4 percent to EUR 0.09, while other companies such as Tecnotree and Atria also saw growth of 2.3 percent and 2.1 percent respectively.

However, not all companies fared well in the market, with steel company SSAB’s B share down by 5.1 percent at EUR 6.52 euros. This is due to the company’s plans to build a fossil-free steel production plant in Lulea, Sweden, with an estimated investment of around EUR 4.5 billion, instead of in Raahe, Finland as previously planned. This change is considered the “third step” for Raahe. Other companies affected by market changes include discount company Tokmanni with a decrease of 1.7 percent and multi-sector group Asp with a decline of 1.3 percent.

Metso signed a framework agreement for significant process technology deliveries to Almalyk MMC’s new copper smelter in Uzbekistan, where it has been cooperating since 2011 to develop processes needed for mineral production and processing in the country
