Henderson’s Impressive Performance and Weather Delay Leaves Major Championship Tied at the Top

Weather halts play but not Brooke Henderson’s climb up the Chevron leaderboard

Brooke Henderson made a strong move up the Chevron Championship leaderboard on Saturday afternoon with an impressive performance. She carded seven birdies and an eagle on her first 14 holes before a weather delay suspended play with her on her final hole. At that point, she was 8 under on her round and 10 under overall, just one shot behind Atthaya Thitikul, who held the lead.

Thitikul, a 21-year-old player, has had success in major tournaments in the past, including a T-4 finish at last year’s Chevron Championship. As play resumes, Thitikul has six holes left to play in the third round before the final round is set to begin at approximately 10:20 a.m. ET. Threesomes and split tees will be used for the final round. World No. 1 Nelly Korda, who is aiming to win a fifth consecutive tournament, was also tied with Henderson at 10 under with seven holes remaining.

Henderson began her impressive round with a birdie on the par-3 seventh hole. She followed that with an eagle on the par-5 eighth and birdies on holes 9 through 11. She continued her strong play with birdies on holes 13 and 14 before a bogey on the par-4 16th. Henderson’s best round in a major tournament is a 64, which she achieved in the first two rounds of the 2022 Evian Championship, which she won.

As play resumes, Thitikul holds onto her lead but faces some stiff competition from Henderson and Korda as they all look to make moves up the leaderboard before it’s too late.

With just six holes left to play in the third round before the final round begins at approximately 10:20 am ET, both Henderson and Korda are determined to make every shot count as they aim to make their way up
