Results of NASCAR weekend at Martinsville Speedway: Who came out on top and who fell short?

The racing at Martinsville Speedway this weekend saw some clear winners and losers. One of the biggest winners was Hendrick Motorsports, who became the first Cup team to sweep the top three spots in a race at Martinsville Speedway. William Byron took the victory, followed by Kyle Larson in second and Chase Elliott in third. This marked Hendrick Motorsports’ fourth win of the season so far.

William Byron emerged as a major winner this weekend. His win at Martinsville was his ninth in the last 44 races, representing an impressive 20.5% winning percentage. Byron has the most wins of any driver since the debut of the Next Gen car in 2022. He has already won on various tracks this season, including a superspeedway, a road course, and now a short track at Martinsville.

Bubba Wallace also had a strong showing, finishing in fourth place, his best result in 13 career Cup starts at Martinsville Speedway. Ryan Preece’s ninth-place finish was his first top 10 of the year, while Carson Kvapil, a 20-year-old, impressed with a fourth-place finish in his Xfinity Series debut at Martinsville Speedway.

On the other hand, some of the losers from this weekend’s racing included Harrison Burton, who finished in 33rd place, marking his fourth consecutive finish of 30th or worse. Austin Dillon came in 34th in his first race back with crew chief Justin Alexander, with his best finish this season being 16th.
