This week, several standout athletes from the high school sports scene in Kentucky were nominated for Courier Journal boys athlete of the week. Ballard, a junior at Manual, led his team to a 9-0 victory over Shelby County in baseball with an impressive performance on the mound and at the plate. Knoop, a senior at Fern Creek, also had an outstanding performance on the baseball field, while Lindgren, a sophomore at DeSales, helped his team secure a win in lacrosse with three goals and one assist. Meanwhile, Miller, a junior at Bullitt East, pitched a no-hit game and struck out seven in wins over Jeffersontown. Shee, an Eastern junior, had an outstanding week at the plate with five hits and seven runs driven in. The poll for The Courier Journal’s boys athlete of the week is currently open and will close at 6 p.m. on Thursday with the winner being announced on Friday.
