Ho Chi Minh City’s Gov.Star Program: Boosting Management Capacity Through Innovative Startups

Innovative Solutions for the Public Sector Found in Ho Chi Minh City

The Department of Science and Technology in Ho Chi Minh City recently launched the Gov.Star program, which aims to support innovative and applied startup projects that can enhance management capacity in the public sector. This first edition of the program was announced on April 3rd by the department, with the goal of finding new models and solutions that utilize technology and digital transformation to address issues in managing public affairs activities within various departments and People’s Committees in the city.

Gov.Star is open to individuals, project groups, and businesses with innovative solutions that can be applied to public affairs management within state agencies, schools, hospitals, and other institutions. Selected models and solutions will receive financial support and incubation to further develop and introduce them for practical pilot implementation in departments and localities.

The selection process for Gov.Star involves four phases: project introductions, training in presentation skills, preliminary evaluation rounds, and incubation for selected projects. The program aims to connect project teams with state management agencies to better understand needs, refine technology solutions, and enhance business models for successful implementation.

Director Nguyen Viet Dung emphasized the importance of using technology to solve specific problems within departments and localities rather than focusing solely on the technology itself. By successfully implementing projects in one area, there is potential for expansion to other wards and communes in Ho Chi Minh City.

Individuals and organizations interested in participating can register through the Department of Science and Technology in Ho Chi Minh City. The program aims to create opportunities for businesses to reach potential customers
