Hollidaysburg Tennis Team and Central Baseball Team Emerge Victorious with Impressive Wins

On Tuesday, the Hollidaysburg Area High School boys tennis team improved to 5-0 with a hard-fought victory over Altoona. The Golden Tigers won 3-2, with Altoona getting singles wins from Luke Mitchell and its doubles team of Aiden Aiken and Avery Lanzendorfer. Hollidaysburg earned singles victories from Garrett Bouchard and Michael Waibel, as well as the doubles team of Alex Arbogast and Jacob Sidney.

In high school baseball, Central also emerged victorious over Penns Valley with a score of 19-9 in six innings. Mason Byler picked up the win in relief, with Jay Hoenstine leading the Dragon offense with three hits and four RBIs. Other contributors include Troy McNichol with three hits and three RBIs, Griffin Snowberger with three hits and two RBIs, and Britton Marko with two hits and three RBIs.

Despite multiple errors on both sides, Central came out on top thanks to its strong offensive performances. Luke Mitchell put up a good fight in singles play for Altoona but was ultimately defeated by Hollidaysburg’s Ben Johnson. With this win, Hollidaysburg maintained its undefeated record at 5-0 while Altoona’s record dropped to 1-4 after the match.

In conclusion, both Hollidaysburg in tennis and Central in baseball had successful outings, earning victories in their respective matches through strong individual performances and overall team efforts.
