Jabari Smith Jr. and Kris Dunn suspended for altercation during Houston’s victory against Utah

On Saturday night, Houston Rockets forward Jabari Smith Jr. and Utah Jazz guard Kris Dunn were both suspended by the league after engaging in a brief fight during their game. Smith has been suspended for one game, while Dunn will sit out the next two games against the Dallas Mavericks and San Antonio Spurs.

The altercation between Smith and Dunn occurred early in the second quarter at the Toyota Center in Houston. Dunn threw a punch at Smith’s head, prompting Smith to retaliate. However, the scuffle was quickly broken up by teammates and officials, resulting in both players being ejected from the game.

Dunn accepted responsibility for his actions, acknowledging that he would respect whatever decision the league made regarding his suspension. Smith, on the other hand, did not speak to reporters after the game. Despite this incident, the Rockets went on to defeat the Jazz 147-119, extending their winning streak to eight games. The Rockets are now just 1.5 games out of the final play-in spot in the Western Conference, while the Jazz have lost five straight games and trail the Rockets by 7.5 games in the standings.
