IDF Faces Cybersecurity Threats as Hackers Target Zionists during Ramadan

Anonymous Claims to Have Accessed IDF and Obtained Quarter of a Million Documents

The IDF’s computer system is highly secure and classified in various levels of security. However, recent events have brought about concerns about potential breaches. Earlier in the month, Anonymous claimed to have infiltrated the Ministry of Justice and obtained 8 million data files totaling 300 gigabytes, including personal information of individuals on the lists. Tweets from Anonymous hackers, active since 2003, threaten to continue targeting Zionists.

The National Cyber System has warned of potential cyber attacks due to the end of Ramadan and increasing hostility towards Israel. Concerns include attacks on websites, digital systems, leaking classified documents, collecting personal information, surveillance software implantation, and hacking. The public in Israel is advised to avoid clicking on suspicious links and report any suspected attacks.

In a video released by hackers, parts of Power Point presentations can be seen that include IDF personalities and presentations with a logo of the General Staff’s wings displayed. However, it is uncertain whether the documents in the video are authentic. Security officials in the IDF estimate that the likelihood of a breach is minimal to zero, suggesting that this could be a form of “psychological warfare” by the hackers. If there was a breach, it is unlikely that IDF computers were compromised but rather information may have been collected from civilian computers against regulations.
