Indian 4x400m Relay Teams Secure Olympic Qualification Spots

Indian male and female relay teams qualify for Paris 2024 Olympics in 4x400m event

The Indian men’s 4x400m relay team consisting of Mohammad Anas Yahiya, Mohammad Ajmal, Arokia Rajiv, and Amoj Jacob seized their second opportunity and clocked a season’s best time of 3:03.23 in heat 2 to secure their spot behind the USA in the upcoming event. On Saturday, Arokia Rajiv stepped in for the injured Rajesh Ramesh, resulting in a DNF for the Indian team.

In the women’s 4x400m relay race at Thomas A Robinson Stadium, India clocked 3:29.35 to finish behind Jamaica in their heat and earned a quota spot. Rupal replaced Vithya Ramraj from the team that raced on Saturday. Despite not competing in the second heat of the mixed relay qualifying round on Sunday, Indian runners have a chance to qualify a team for the Paris 2024 Olympics. Two quota spots will be granted based on the top list during the qualification period from December 31, 2022, to June 30, 2024.
