Indonesian Barista Mikael Jasin Wins World Barista Championship with Meditation-Infused Routine

Indonesia’s Mikael Jasin Crowned 2024 World Barista Champion in Roast Magazine’s Daily Coffee News

Mikael Jasin from Indonesia has won the title of World Barista Champion, beating out 53 competitors from around the world. His winning routine focused on meditation and mindfulness, making him the first Indonesian barista to ever win this prestigious title.

Jasin’s winning courses featured two unique coffee varieties: an Ethiopian landrace variety called Ají and a Gesha-variety coffee. The finalists in the competition came from a variety of countries, including Australia, Japan, New Zealand, South Korea, Ireland, and the Netherlands.

The 2024 World Barista Championship took place at the World of Coffee Asia in Busan, South Korea. The Speciality Coffee Association announced that Jakarta, Indonesia will be hosting the 2025 World of Coffee Asia event. This is exciting news for coffee lovers everywhere!
