Innovative Solutions for Miami: Combating Sea Level Rise and Securing a Better Future”.

Is Florida’s coastline at risk of disappearing? Experts and policymakers working on solutions to combat rising sea levels

In recent years, climate researchers have been warning about the potential impacts of sea level rise, tidal flooding, and extreme rain in Florida. A report from Virginia Tech stated that over half a million people in the U.S. could be affected by sea level rise by 2050, with the Jacksonville area being particularly at risk.

Miami, in particular, is already experiencing the extreme effects of rising sea levels. As part of our special series Solutionaries, we traveled to South Florida to explore solutions that are already being put in place to combat the rising tide and secure a better future for the region.

Our journey took us to the Sea Level Solutions Lab at Florida International University and Broward County, where efforts are being made to address this growing problem and make a positive impact. The focus is on finding innovative solutions and implementing measures to mitigate the effects of sea level rise and protect communities from its potential devastation.
