Inoue v Nery: A Knockout Showdown at Tokyo Dome

Inoue, the Undisputed World Champion, Ready for Historic Battle

Japan’s undisputed super bantamweight world champion, Naoya Inoue, expressed his high hopes for the defense of his four belts against Mexico’s Luis Nery during a press conference in Yokohama on Saturday. Inoue emphasized that he believes the upcoming bout will be a monumental fight, and he is aiming for a knockout victory. The fight between Inoue and Nery will be the highlight of a card at Tokyo Dome, marking the first world boxing title fights at the venue in 34 years.

Inoue stated that the timing of the fight aligning with such a splendid environment is a rare occurrence. Nery, who had previously been suspended by the WBC for missing weight in 2018, assured that his weight is not an issue this time, and he is also looking for a knockout win. Inoue boasts a record of 26-0 with 23 knockouts, while Nery has a record of 35-1 with 27 KOs.

The Tokyo Dome card will also include three other world title bouts. Takuma Inoue, Naoya’s younger brother and the WBA bantamweight champion, will defend his title against Sho Ishida, the top-ranked contender. WBA flyweight champion Seigo Yuri Akui will face off against third-ranked Taku Kuwahara in his first title defense. Australian WBO bantamweight champion Jason Moloney is set to take on 10th-ranked Yoshiki Takei, a former K-1 kickboxer.

With a loaded card featuring multiple world title fights, boxing fans can look forward to an exciting night of action at Tokyo Dome.
