Intertwined Futures: Branitz, Sanssouci and the Art of Climate Action

Pückler Park Branitz is implementing measures to address climate change

In the Pückler Park Branitz in Cottbus, a collaboration between the Fürst Pückler Museum Park and Branitz Castle Foundation is shedding light on the impact of climate change on the park. The open-air exhibition titled “Future Rich: Climate Change Branitz” will be held from April 30th to October 31st. The exhibition features twelve stations that highlight the effects of climate change on soil, water systems, trees, meadows, buildings and museum operations.

Meanwhile, artists Lea Grebe from Munich, Tayfun Erdogmus from Istanbul, and Jakob Kukula from Berlin are inviting visitors to take a fresh look at the Branitz park landscape through site-specific interventions of contemporary art under the title “Between Roots and Crowns”. This project aims to showcase Branitz as a laboratory for the future.

As part of this collaborative effort, the Prussian Palaces and Gardens Berlin-Brandenburg Foundation is also presenting “Historic Gardens in Climate Change” in Branitz. This exhibition explores perspectives for green cultural heritage from Sanssouci and Branitz. Through art, exhibitions, and research, the project aims to inspire action and conversation about the importance of protecting our environment for future generations.

Furthermore, an open-air exhibition on the consequences of climate change will be held in Sanssouci Park by Castle Foundation. This collaborative effort aims to raise awareness about the challenges posed by climate change and explore sustainable solutions in these culturally significant spaces.
