Introducing the Pine Parks and Recreation Department’s Exciting New Adult Sports Leagues and Summer Camps for Kids

Pine launches adult summer sports leagues

The Pine Parks and Recreation Department is excited to announce the launch of adult sports leagues for the summer, starting in June. This initiative marks the first time the department has provided recreational opportunities for grownups. During a meeting with township supervisors on April 3, Recreation program manager Tyler Walker shared details about these co-ed leagues which are open to athletes aged 19 and older.

The department has partnered with Sports Monster Pittsburgh, a local branch of a national company that specializes in organizing leagues, tournaments, and events. Interested individuals can register as a team or as individuals to be placed on teams. The sports leagues will be held on various days of the week throughout the summer. Soccer will take place on Sundays, softball on Mondays or Sundays, flag football on Saturdays, and sand volleyball on Saturdays as well. Registration links for each league are provided for interested individuals.

In addition to adult sports leagues, the Pine Parks and Recreation Department is offering a 10-week Summer Activity Camp for children entering first through sixth grades. The camp will feature field trips to places like the National Aviary and Carnegie Museum of Science, as well as weekly special programs such as visits from park rangers and magicians. Young campers can choose between half-day or full-day sessions for their summer activities.

For younger children in the same age group, the traditional summer recreation program will run for eight weeks near the Finley Pavilion in Pine Community Park. This program will take place from June 10 to August 2, offering morning activities for kids to enjoy the summer outdoors. More information on both programs and registration details can be found on the township’s website.
