Sports Emmys to Present Lifetime Achievement Award to James Brown, Renowned Sports Broadcaster

James Brown, a three-time Emmy Award-winning sports broadcaster, will receive Lifetime Achievement honors at the 45th Annual Sports Emmy Awards ceremony on May 21. The ceremony will take place at Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Rose Hall in New York.

Brown has had a significant impact on sports media throughout his career, covering Super Bowls and championship games and hosting CBS Sports’ THE NFL TODAY and INSIDE THE NFL. His work as a correspondent for CBS News has also been recognized.

Stephen Head, the Head of the Sports Emmy Awards, highlighted Brown’s iconic career as a host of various sports studio shows. He praised Brown for raising the bar in the world of sportscasting. Brown expressed humbleness upon receiving the award, giving credit to the people he has worked with over the years.

Over the past 30 years, Brown has become known for hosting pregame shows such as THE NFL TODAY and NFL ON FOX. He has hosted the Super Bowl 12 times and worked as a special correspondent for CBS News on programs like 60 MINUTES and CBS EVENING NEWS. In addition to his broadcasting career, Brown is an ordained minister and a Harvard University graduate. He is involved in various charitable organizations, including GENYOUth, The Ron & Joy Paul Kidney Center at George Washington University, and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Brown’s dedication to excellence and philanthropy has solidified his lasting legacy in the sports broadcasting industry. NATAS President Adam Sharp praised Brown for his significant impact on sports media throughout his career. “James Brown has been an integral part of our industry for decades,” said Sharp. “His contributions to sports broadcasting have been immeasurable.”
