UT Health San Antonio to Host Be Well Texas Community Wellness Fair This Saturday

The second annual community wellness fair hosted by UT Health San Antonio’s substance use treatment initiative, Be Well Texas, will take place on Saturday. The event aims to offer various wellness activities, services, and resources to educate the community. State Rep. Elizabeth “Liz” Campos, District 119, will be the featured guest speaker at the fair.

The community wellness fair will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Mission County Park 1 in San Antonio. The event will kick off with a welcome ceremony by Jennifer Sharpe Potter, followed by a speech from State Rep. Elizabeth “Liz” Campos. Attendees can also participate in Zumba and HIIT workouts sponsored by local instructors, as well as a group meditation session sponsored by BioThrive Wellness. Door prizes will be given out at 2:30 p.m..

Throughout the day, there will be various activities and services available to educate attendees about health and wellness including information from local community and wellness organizations such as the San Antonio Area Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse (SAAADA) and Project Recovery SA, pet therapy by Therapy Animals of San Antonio , food distribution by the San Antonio Food Bank , overdose reversal training with naloxone distribution . Attendees can also receive free medical screenings such as substance use screenings by Be Well Texas , wellness health checks by UT Health San Antonio School of Nursing , vision screenings by Lions Sight Research Foundation , HIV and STI testing by the Alamo Area Resource Center , diabetic screenings by District 2-A2 Lions Clubs .
