Joining Forces: Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry Team up for Inaugural Zurich Classic Pairing

McIlroy and Lowry to join forces at Zurich Classic of New Orleans

Rory McIlroy has promised to play more in 2024 and his next stop will be at the Zurich Classic in New Orleans. He will be joining forces with Shane Lowry, a fellow European Ryder Cup teammate, for the event. This will be McIlroy’s first appearance at the Zurich Classic, which switched to a two-man team format in 2017.

The Zurich Classic is set to take place from April 25-28 at TPC Louisiana, just one week after the RBC Heritage. This means that McIlroy could be playing in his fourth consecutive tournament, following the Valero Texas Open, the Masters, and the event at Harbour Town. McIlroy has already played seven times in 2024, including two starts on the DP World Tour, which is two more worldwide starts than he had at this point last year.

Recently, McIlroy returned to PGA National for the Cognizant Classic and tied for 21st, marking his first visit to the course since the 2018 Honda Classic. On the other hand, Lowry has participated in the Zurich Classic three times, with his most recent appearance in 2022 alongside Ian Poulter, where they finished 13th. Lowry has also played seven times this year, including a recent appearance at the Porsche Singapore Classic on the DP World Tour, where he tied for 29th.
