Jrue Holiday Signs Four-Year, $135 Million Deal with Boston Celtics: Becoming the Fourth Player in NBA History to Receive a Guaranteed Contract Over $100 Million

Celtics and Jrue Holiday Reach $135 Million Extension Agreement for 4 Years

Jrue Holiday, the 33-year-old veteran guard, has reached a significant agreement on a contract extension with the Boston Celtics. After declining his $37.3 million player option for the 2024-’25 season, Holiday has signed a four-year, $135 million deal with the team.

Holiday’s journey to Boston began with a blockbuster trade that sent Damian Lillard to the Milwaukee Bucks, ultimately landing Holiday in Portland initially. However, a week later, he found himself in Boston, where he has been making valuable contributions. In his first season with the team, Holiday is averaging 12.5 points, 5.4 rebounds, 4.9 assists, and .9 steals.

The UCLA product was drafted 17th overall by the Philadelphia 76ers in the 2009 NBA draft and has had an impressive career playing for multiple teams before landing in Boston through a trade. With this new contract extension, Holiday becomes the fourth player in NBA history to sign a guaranteed deal worth over $100 million at his age or older, joining LeBron James, Stephen Curry and Al Horford.

Despite a decrease in scoring compared to previous seasons, Holiday remains a valuable asset to the Celtics, particularly on defense. The team currently boasts the second-best defense in the league and Holiday plays a significant role in their success as they continue their journey towards another championship title.

As this story continues to develop further updates will be shared on Jrue Holiday’s exciting contract extension with the Boston Celtics.
