Local Brewery Receives Silver Award in Prestigious World Beer Cup Competition

Shoe Tree Brewing earns second place at World Beer Cup

The Brewers Association founded the World Beer Cup competition in 1996 to celebrate the art and science of brewing. This year, Shoe Tree Brewing has been recognized with a silver award in this prestigious competition. The award was presented at a ceremony on April 24 at The Venetian in Las Vegas, where winners were announced in 110 different beer-style categories.

STBC is a 7-bbl brewpub located in Carson City and is known for creating both traditional and innovative beers. They received the award in the American-Style Brown Ale category for their Lahontan Brown beer, which is a dark brown beer with flavors of caramel, chocolate, and hops.

The World Beer Cup is often referred to as “The Olympics of Beer” and honors brewing excellence on an international scale. This year’s winners were chosen by a panel of 280 beer judges from 37 countries, who evaluated a total of 9,300 entries from 2,060 breweries across 50 countries.
