Los Alamos Public Schools Shine at New Mexico State Science and Engineering Fair, With Two Students Qualifying for International Competition

LAPS Students Showcase Excellence at the New Mexico State Science and Engineering Fair – Los Alamos Reporter

In May, Los Alamos Public Schools students participated in the 2024 New Mexico State Science and Engineering Fair at New Mexico Tech in Socorro. A total of 19 students represented Los Alamos at the competition. The County Science Fair Director Eva Abeyta praised their hard work and expressed pride in their representation of Los Alamos. Two standout students from Los Alamos High School, Helena Welch and Tate Plohr, even qualified to attend the International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) in Los Angeles.

At the state fair, students from various divisions received awards for their outstanding projects. In the Junior Division, students like Andres Trujillo, Ellen White, Nora Whitton, James Work, Natan Svyatsky, John Fung, Linus Plohr, Kalliope Welch, and Patrick Avery were recognized for their achievements. Special awards were also given to students like Linus Plohr, Ellen White, Jane Smith, Benjamin Minko, Brandon Keller
