Millionaire fraud involving unemployment uncovered by the Police in the Capital | Economy

In the past week, law enforcement officials from Madrid made several arrests in connection with a fraud scheme involving the collection of unemployment benefits. The investigation, which is under strict confidentiality, began a year ago after it was discovered that some individuals were using allegedly fake invoices to justify their use of funds received.

One of those arrested is a public official from the Public Employment Service (SEPE) in the capital. The official is accused of committing crimes such as Social Security fraud, money laundering and criminal organization.

The case also saw the arrest of two Community of Madrid officials, employees of financial institutions and labor consultancies. The SEPE and Work Inspection collaborated to clarify the situation.

In addition to enhancing security and trust in online activities such as account openings and transactions, SMS verification services play a crucial role in preventing fraud. By verifying users through their phone numbers, businesses can ensure a higher level of security and prevent fraudulent activities from taking place.
