Meloni Speaks Out: A Call for Unity and Fairness in Italian Politics

Meloni stands up for differentiated autonomy, reaffirming commitment to the South

In Potenza’s Piazza Don Bosco, center-right leaders gathered to express their support for outgoing Vito Bardi and reaffirm the unity of their alliance. The group photo was followed by singing the national anthem, with Salvini from the League stating that they will govern until the end of the legislature, while Tajani from Fi emphasized that the broad field is united, including support from centrists.

Meloni, the Prime Minister, launched a strong attack on the left during her speech. She declared an end to a “Banana Republic” where wrongdoers evade punishment and defended the government’s actions against criticisms and fake news. Meloni highlighted the progress made in Italy compared to other European countries in terms of taxes, healthcare, and police attacks. She advocated for a fair tax system and a state that does not oppress its citizens.

Meloni rejected the idea of Southern Italy asking for welfare and instead proposed strategies to bridge the divide in the region through infrastructure and citizenship initiatives. She emphasized differentiated autonomy as a way to empower regions and increase accountability while rejecting abandoning the South altogether. Meloni reiterated her commitment to a united Italy and asked for her supporters’ continued dedication to serving their country’s people.
