Forensic Scientist Alyshia Meyers shared her insights on the importance of getting kids interested in science at a young age during an event called All About Forensic Science at the Portage Public Library this afternoon. The event was part of the Library’s Community STEM Cafe series and was made possible by a mini grant from the Appalachia Intermediate Unit 8.

Meyers emphasized that introducing children to science early on is crucial for their future as the STEM field is always growing. She has been working in forensics for about seven years and shared her experiences with the audience. The event provided a great opportunity for families to learn about Forensic Science and its impact on solving crimes. The audience members engaged with Meyers, asking questions and expressing their interest in the field.

The Community STEM Cafe program aims to educate and inspire community members of all ages about various aspects of science and technology. Meyers’ presentation was well-received, and overall, the event was a success in promoting interest and knowledge in Forensic Science among residents of Cambria County.
