Microsoft Pauses Launch of New Copilot Features on Windows to Refine them based on User Feedback.

Microsoft halts the rollout of new Copilot features for further refinement

Microsoft has decided to pause the launch of new features for Copilot in order to refine them based on feedback from users who have already tried them. The company will be providing more details and news about the development of Artificial Intelligence technology and its assistant at the upcoming Microsoft Build developer conference on May 21-23.

Recently, Microsoft released Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22635.3570 (KB5037008) on the Beta channel, which includes various bug fixes. The company has been testing different experiences for Copilot in Windows with Windows Insider users in the Canary, Dev, and Beta channels. One of the new capabilities allows Copilot for Windows to act as a normal application window and display a dynamic taskbar icon indicating that the chatbot can assist with copying text or images.

While Copilot on Windows will continue to work as expected during this pause, Microsoft is focused on refining the new features with user feedback before a global launch. The company plans to document changes in Windows Beta Channel builds in two groups: one for new features, improvements, and fixes gradually rolled out to insiders, and the other for the latest updates and new features available to everyone in the Beta Channel, implemented gradually and optional.

Microsoft has also mentioned some of the fixes being implemented in the Beta Channel build, such as resolving desktop icon spacing issues and unexpected address bar menu displays in File Explorer. Participants in the Windows Insider program will continue to play a key role in providing feedback and helping to shape the future development of Copilot for Windows.

In summary, Microsoft is taking a pause on launching new features for Copilot on Windows to refine them based on user feedback before a global release. The company plans to document changes in its upcoming developer conference while continuing to test different experiences for users in various channels.
