Microsoft’s Copilot Plus PCs: A Step Towards Improved User Experience

Microsoft’s Copilot AI backtracking explained for new PCs

Microsoft has recently launched a new range of Copilot Plus PCs, featuring a dedicated Copilot key on the keyboard. This marks the first significant change to Windows keyboards in 30 years. However, users were disappointed to find that the new Copilot key only functions to launch a Progressive Web App version of Copilot, which does not integrate into the Windows operating system as its predecessor did. As a result, users cannot control Windows 11 settings or anchor Copilot with a sidebar.

In response to this backlash, Microsoft has announced that they are evolving the Copilot experience into an app pinned to the taskbar. This change allows for a traditional app experience and enables users to resize, move, and dock the window – addressing feedback received from users during the preview of Copilot on Windows. Microsoft believes that this adjustment will enable them to develop and optimize the Copilot experience more effectively in the future.

While some users may be disappointed by the current functionality of the Copilot key, Microsoft has also pinned the Copilot app to the taskbar on these new PCs. This means that users do not necessarily need to use the dedicated key as they can easily access it from their taskbar. While there are currently limitations in functionality and usability due to this change, Microsoft’s efforts towards improving its experience offer hope for better results in future updates.

Overall, while this update may not have met initial expectations entirely, it shows Microsoft’s commitment towards enhancing user experience and usability through constant evolution and optimization of their products.
