Minneapolis: The Happiest City in the United States and One of the Happiest in the World According to New Study

NBC Chicago Reports Minneapolis Is Among the Happiest Cities in the World in Latest Ranking

In the Midwest, there is a city that has been named as the happiest in the United States and among the happiest in the world. Minneapolis, Minnesota has achieved this accolade, thanks to its high scores on various indicators that assess quality of life and overall happiness for residents.

The Institute for Quality of Life creates an annual “Happy City Index” and Minneapolis was the only U.S. city to rank in the gold status category, achieving a high rank of 17 among 37 total cities. The ranking is based on 24 areas of activity within categories such as citizens, governance, environment, economy, and mobility.

Aarhus, Denmark was ranked as the top city in the world in this year’s Happy City Index. While several other U.S. cities were listed in silver and bronze categories such as Boston, Baltimore, Washington, San Francisco, Salt Lake City and Madison also received recognition for their high levels of happiness and quality of life.

Madison has been recognized as one of the happiest cities in several previous rankings, cementing its reputation as a place with exceptional levels of happiness and quality of life for its residents.
