Multiple Sports Stars Shine in Courier Journal Girls Athlete of the Week Race

Cast your vote for the standout high school player of the week in the Louisville area

The nominees for this week’s Courier Journal girls athlete of the week showcased their skills on both softball fields and lacrosse courts across Louisville. Voting is now open for the award, with the poll closing at 6 p.m. on Thursday and the winner announced on Friday.

Among the standout nominees is Manual senior Cameron Breier, who led her team to victory over Mercy in lacrosse with eight goals and six assists. Portland Christian sophomore Ava Gish also excelled with seven hits and five RBIs in games against Beth Haven, Presentation, and Christian Educational Consortium in softball.

Collegiate senior Bridgette Haraden had an impressive performance with six goals and one assist in a game against Cooper in lacrosse. Meanwhile, Mercy senior Maya Merrill dominated on the softball field by striking out 31 batters in games against Fern Creek, Atherton, and Boyle County while earning a save against Fern Creek.

Assumption junior Lauren Satterly had a dominant week with six hits, including two home runs, six RBIs, and two stolen bases to help lead her team to victories over Eastern, Male, and Jeffersonville (Indiana).
