Mustangs Sweep Elimination Series with Impressive Performance Against Easley

Local Sports: Midland Valley softball triumphs over Easley in playoff matchup

Midland Valley’s softball team took the field for a Class AAAA elimination game against Easley on Wednesday night feeling determined. The Mustangs had waited an extra night to play due to storms in the area the previous night, and they were not happy about it. However, instead of dwelling on their frustration, they channeled that anger into a powerful performance against Easley.

In just two innings, Midland Valley scored four runs, taking a commanding 4-0 lead over their opponents. Their offense was more than enough as their pitching and defense held Easley to just one hit throughout the game. Karley Bedenbaugh delivered a strong five-inning performance, striking out seven batters, while Larue Hicks closed out the game with two perfect innings in relief.

Coach Katie Anderson praised her team’s exceptional performance on the field, praising their excellent fielding and shutting down the opposition whenever they made contact. In addition to their stellar defense, Midland Valley also excelled offensively, racking up 10 hits throughout the game. Bailey Seabolt led the team with a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate, contributing a double, two stolen bases, and a run scored.

The Mustangs’ determination and resilience were evident as they fought to extend their season against tough competition. Following a loss to Catawba Ridge, they bounced back with a road victory against Riverside before their impressive performance against Easley. The victory marked Midland Valley’s second consecutive win in an elimination game, leaving them optimistic about their chances of making it to state finals.

Midland Valley will face off against Region 4-AAAA rival Airport in another elimination game tonight at 7 pm at Easley High School’s baseball field.
