The Technology Modernization Fund has been allocated to support NASA in enhancing its network cybersecurity and performance, which is crucial in facilitating partnerships with international space agencies and researchers, as well as protecting the value of its data. This investment will enable critical cybersecurity and operational upgrades to be implemented two years earlier than planned, highlighting the General Services Administration’s emphasis on protecting and evolving NASA’s IT infrastructure.
In addition to NASA, the Technology Modernization Board-led TMF will also be investing in the Department of Labor to streamline the delivery of injured worker assistance. Specifically, the funding will help the Office of Workers’ Compensation Programs replace the outdated Integrated Federal Employee Compensation System, or iFECS.
Jeff Seaton, Chief Information Officer at NASA, emphasized the crucial role of the agency’s IT infrastructure in all aspects of its mission. This funding will allow NASA to accelerate necessary upgrades and improvements to its cybersecurity and operations, aligning with the agency’s top priorities. For more insights from government CIOs and industry leaders, Potomac Officers Club’s 5th Annual CIO Summit on April 17 will provide a valuable opportunity to learn and network.
