NBC Sports Records Highest Viewership in Premier League History for 2023-24 Season

In the 2023-24 season, the Premier League experienced its most successful year in terms of viewership, with NBC Sports continuing its 11th year as the top tier of U.K. soccer. This season also marked the second year under a renewed media rights deal. Across NBC and USA Network, as well as on the Peacock streaming platform, Premier League games averaged 546,000 viewers, surpassing the previous record set in the 2015-16 season. Viewership was up by 4% compared to the previous year.

The final day of the season, Championship Sunday, was the highest-rated ever on U.S. airwaves, breaking the previous record set in 2022. Six of the seven best EPL audiences in the U.S. occurred during this past season, all of which were NBC-led matches. The Manchester City-Arsenal match on March 31 was the first game to surpass 2 million viewers, with 2.12 million tuning in.

Peacock also saw success with exclusive matches, hosting the three most-streamed EPL matches in the U.S.

Viewers of EPL matches on Peacock streamed 28% more live minutes this season compared to the previous season.

NBC has been pushing for more Premier League matches to be staged in the U.S., which has contributed to the increase in viewership and popularity of the league in America.

Overall, it’s clear that interest in soccer is growing globally and particularly here in America due to NBC’s efforts to bring high quality soccer content to American audiences
