Nelly Korda Defies Odds to Win Major Golf Tournament and Secure Fifth Consecutive Victory

Nelly Korda Achieves Historic LPGA Victory at Chevron Championship

Nelly Korda, an American golfer, achieved a remarkable feat in the final round of the Chevron Championship. Despite starting one shot behind the leader Ryu Hae-ran of South Korea, she managed to finish with a three-under par on a challenging course, claiming victory with a score of 13 under. This win marked Korda’s fifth consecutive tournament victory, equaling an LPGA record. Moreover, it secured her second major title of her career.

Notable finishes included England’s trio Georgia Hall, Charley Hull, and Lottie Woad, who finished in a share of 23rd place at one under. Northern Ireland’s Stephanie Meadow finished a shot further back. Korda expressed her nerves and excitement after the win, stating that winning a major had always been a dream of hers since childhood.

This victory also placed Korda among the elite players in the golfing world. The only other players to have achieved this feat are Nancy Lopez in 1978 and Annika Sorenstam in 2005. The final leaderboard showed Korda finishing two shots ahead of Sweden’s Maja Stark, who surged late in the tournament to secure second place. American Lauren Coughlin had the best round of the day with a four-under 68, ending up tied for third place with Canada’s Brooke Henderson on 10 under.
