The Arizona Diamondbacks have bolstered their starting rotation with the addition of left-handed pitcher Jordan Montgomery. The one-year contract is worth up to $25 million and includes a vesting option for 2025. Montgomery, a seven-year veteran, brings valuable experience to the team’s pitching staff.
In his first 21 starts with the St. Louis Cardinals last season, Montgomery posted a 6-9 record with a 3.42 ERA. After being traded to the Texas Rangers in July, he went 4-2 with a 2.79 ERA over his final 11 starts. Montgomery was instrumental in helping the Rangers secure their first World Series title, going 3-1 in the postseason.
With a career 3.68 ERA and a 38-34 record over 141 appearances, Montgomery will join a strong rotation that features pitchers like Zac Gallen, Merrill Kelly, Tommy Henry, Brandon Pfaadt, and Ryne Nelson. The Diamondbacks open their season against the Colorado Rockies in Phoenix on Thursday.
