Mother Science, a biotech skincare brand, has recently launched its second product, Retinol Synergist. The formula of this product contains a patented ingredient called Malassezin which has been paired with retinol.
After over six years of research, extensive laboratory studies, and four clinical trials, Mother Science reports that data on their product has been published in peer-reviewed dermatology journals, including the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology 2021 and the Journal of Drugs in Dermatology 2022.
The novel molecule Malassezin has been scientifically proven to be a 10 times more powerful antioxidant than vitamin C. According to the brand, it helps safeguard the skin from free radical damage, visibly diminish fine lines and wrinkles, and improves the skin moisture barrier.
Further research into Malassezin has revealed that it and retinol have complementary effects on the skin but work through different pathways. This leads to additive, synergistic effects, resulting in greater results when used together. The calming properties of Malassezin and its support of the skin barrier help reduce the retinization period and minimize irritation, allowing for a stronger product that can quickly reduce the look of fine lines and wrinkles with less discomfort.
