New Chapter for Consolidated Pipe and Supply Company: $28 Million Investment to Boost Birmingham’s Economy and Create Jobs

Big company pours millions into Jefferson County

The consolidation of Consolidated Pipe and Supply Company Inc.’s headquarters is set to take place in Tom Martin Drive, just off of Lakeshore Parkway in Birmingham. Currently, the company is located on the Birmingham Southern College campus and has been a leading supplier for construction and pipe projects across the country for many years. The move represents a significant capital investment of over $28 million and is expected to bring in approximately $1.1 million in tax revenue over a 20-year period, with a substantial portion earmarked for education.

The project will involve the creation of a new headquarters facility and a small distribution center, which will add new jobs that offer competitive wages to the area. With plans to accommodate 100 existing employees and make room for 40 more, this relocation is expected to have a positive impact on local economic development.

Despite concerns about potential truck traffic on Lakeshore Parkway, the company has worked closely with nearby homeowners associations to mitigate any negative impacts. Measures such as implementing a one-way in, one-way out traffic design, limiting truck traffic, and installing a wooded screening to shield local residents from the facility have been put in place to minimize disruptions and maintain the quality of life for the community.

According to Jeff Traywick, Jefferson County’s economic development advisor, grading for the new facility is set to begin in the coming months with an anticipated opening slated for late 2025 or early 2026. This consolidation signifies a positive step towards growth and long-term sustainability for both the company and the community at large.
